LPG boiler installation is on the rise across the UK, and at Scottish Boiler Company we have the expertise to be able to assist. LPG stands for Liquified Petroleum Gas and is a combination of gaseous hydrocarbons. This type of boiler is not just used as a domestic heating system but also for cooking and vehicles.
An LPG boiler works in the same way as a natural gas and oil boiler. Where they do different however is that fuel for your boiler needs to be delivered and stored in a secure tank at your home. This therefore means you need to ensure you have the space for the external tank. When choosing this external tank we can advise you on what is going to be best.
The other decision you will need to make is if you would like the tank to be installed either above or below ground. If you choose to have one installed above ground then you will need to consider a few things. Firstly, you will need to have a concrete base and trench dug in to lead the pipework into your home. Secondly, you will also need to consider the tank’s location to make sure that there is adequate space for the tank to breathe incase of a leak.
If you however do decide to have the tank below ground then you will also need to consider the space outside. When having the tank installed ensure the lid is still going to be visible as this is how you will refuel. Do be aware if your area is prone to flooding having a tank below ground will not be suitable. As this may affect the tank, and contaminate the fuel.
Having an LPG boiler installed can bring a host of benefits, some of which can make the decision between this and a gas boiler or oil boiler very difficult. Some of the benefits can include
Cheaper than an oil boiler
In regards to upfront cost an LPG boiler is significantly cheaper than an oil boiler. Therefore meaning your initial outgoings are less.
LPG boilers are notoriously efficient and can be up to 90% more efficient than a standard boiler. This would mean for every £1 you spend, only 10p of it will be wasted.
More Compact Size
An LPG boiler will also tend to be of a much smaller size which can also mean they have a lower noise output.
